CORRECTION!
Sorry about the duplicate emails but I had the wrong date in the first one. The meeting will be Wednesday, May 15 @ 6:00 PM!

One of the most entertaining aspects of development is the unpredictability of things. Be it a client who decides at the last minute to support IE6, a database that has 42GB image files stored in it, or just a good ‘ol fashioned unreproducible bug that only happens when the Saturn is Jupiter’s crescent moon, development always has it’s surprises. Which brings me to our latest one, a May 2013 Meeting!

Elijah Manor wrote into the group and offered to come by and speak to us while on vacation in the area next week. Elijah has recently spoke at Microsoft’s AngleBrackets conference in Vegas and will be at FluentConf later this month. Here’s a little bit about his topic for our group:

In this session, Angry Birds uncover concepts of modern JavaScript development. Each bird represents an area of JavaScript along with its strengths. Some topics covered include code organization, events and messaging, MV* frameworks, prototyping and mocking, design patterns, linking, and build systems. The goal is to defeat the pigs and by doing so produce highly tested quality JavaScript code.

And here’s a little about Elijah:

He is a Microsoft Regional Director, Microsoft ASP.NET MVP, ASPInsider, and IE userAgent and enjoys blogging (http://elijahmanor.com), tweeting (@elijahmanor), and speaking about the things he learns.

And if that weren’t enough…GCNDUG is also now on Twitter! Be sure to follow the group where we will post meeting updates, industry news, and other helpful information. And vote for our next topic on the site poll! June’s meeting will cover Windows Azure on the most popular topic!

OK.. that’s enough shocking information for today. Hope to see you next Wednesday night!
